About

Bend The Trend is not your typical fancy, upscale boutique. Bend The Trend sells overstock and closeout merchandise from major department stores including Nordstrom, Bloomingdale’s, Macy’s, Target, and more, so customers can buy trendy designer apparel and accessories at affordable prices. Most available items are one-of-a-kind with new items being brought in twice weekly, so the selection is different all of the time.

Back in 2010, T.J. Maxx invited a handful of bloggers to fly out to Boston on their dime to tour their facilities with hopes that the attendees would blog and promote them. One of those bloggers was Kim Rowley Lohrberg, who was intrigued by how liquidation merchandising worked.

Basically, liquidation merchandising is buying overstock, closeout, last-season, or even returned merchandise and reselling it for less than retail. Similar stores that operate this way are Marshall’s, Ross, and Burlington.

Mrs. Lohrberg blogged about her T.J. Maxx experience and what she learned. In 2020, she sold that blog and several others to a media corporation and decided to change her focus and invest in some liquidation inventory. You may have seen or even attended some of her Liquidation Popup sale events she has held around Northeast Nebraska.

Pop-up shops are short-term, temporary retail events that have recently taken over the urban retail world. Pop-up stores are traditionally associated with fashion boutiques, but the Liquidation Popups sales have included a wide variety of products including clothing, electronics, household goods, toys, and more.

The requests for more liquidation items for sale have been overwhelming including the requests for more fashion clothing by her fashionista daughters! And the idea of a “liquidation boutique” was born. The boutique carries women’s clothing in sizes XS-4X and jeans in sizes 0-24. They also carry shoes, handbags, lingerie, jewelry, and more, all for one low price as well as home goods at deeply discounted prices of 75-90% off retail.

Bend The Trend is open Thursdays 12 pm – 6 pm and Saturdays from 10 am – 2 pm. For more information, visit 200 W. Braasch Avenue, Norfolk NE 68701 or online at BendTheTrend.com

Frequently Asked Questions

Where are you located?

Our address is 200 W Braasch Ave in downtown Norfolk, Nebraska (one block north of Norfolk Avenue).

What are your hours?

We are open Thursdays from 12-6 and Saturdays from 10-2.

Where do your items come from?

Items are overstocks, last year’s styles, store returns, excess inventory, and liquidation items. They come from big-name retail stores such as Nordstrom, Bed Bath & Beyond, Target, Macy’s, Wayfair, and more.

Similar stores that do liquidation merchandising are Marshall’s, Ross, and Burlington (on a much bigger scale, obviously).

Our inventory changes weekly so you’re guaranteed to find something new each time you shop. All items are new and unused.

What sizes do you carry?

The boutique carries women’s clothing in sizes XS-5X and jeans in sizes 0-30. We also carry shoes, handbags, maternity, activewear, lingerie, jewelry, sunglasses, hats, swimwear, and more, all for $10 each no matter what the price tag says with a few exceptions: Bras are 2/$10, Panties are 5/$5, and Formal Dresses are $25. We also sell home goods at deeply discounted prices of 75-90% off retail. All items are brand new.

Is all of your inventory available for sale online?

No. The items available online are only a small fraction of what we sell at the boutique. For most of the items we receive, we have only one in stock so chances are that no one else in town will have the same outfit as you! We restock the store weekly, you’ll find new items every week you shop!

If we do get multiples of certain items, we may list them for sale online. See what we currently have available online: https://bendthetrend.com/
